    Bullet and Kinematic object

I have a Bullet cloth sim and the cloth is being blown with a forcefield, the cloth is being held in place with a kinematic null.

However there needs to be a point when the cloth is blown away.

So my question is, is there a way to turn the kinematic off at a moment in time?

    Checked, seems there isnīt.

    Maybe with other item bodies.

perhaps use a parts body, parented to the kinematic object, but it needs to be setup so the kinematic object doesnīt affect the cloth, and then use activate on last key, that way the parts body will still hold the deforming body, but once activated by keyframe, the parts body will drop with the deforming body.
    Not sure though.

    Checked, no that wonīt work.

No, in this case you need to use a combination of the following:

Shape Retention: usually "translation and rotation"
Texture property on Shape Retention: Gradient that uses weight map, with layer opacity being the control which turns the constraint on or off

The kinematic object method is good for quick setups, but there is no way to my knowledge to make the deforming body break free of it at a specified keyframe. You need to use a weight map method instead.

I've now had time to try this in Cloth FX and the effect is better but a similar problem.

The point set fixes the cloth but how can I choose a frame to release the fix?

This is where Syflex pins come in really handy.
