Thread: Let's hope that LW2020 is _______________.

  1. #1

    Let's hope that LW2020 is _______________.

Lets hope that LW2020 is more stable! I gave up on Modo at 601 because it was so crash prone, but I think LW2019 has been worse. Modeler crashes when you do something in Layout - Layout crashes when you do something in Modeler. The Hub has gotta go. Let me end by saying that LW is a pretty darn decent 3D application - I like it - but.

What are your hopes for LW2020?

    That it arrives in 2021......
No need for annual updates if your not getting a bag load of new features.

somewhere there was a saying that the next lightwave version is always the most stable lightwave version. :-)

And as a newcomer, I was also surprised at how often lightwave crashed
I love the many possibilities of lightwave, but I was used to something else from shade3d.

I would be happy about a browser, for scenes or light.

Howz about they just actually FIX it so it works as it supposed to? You know, as it was in 4.x, 5.x, ... 11.x?

The last update corrected some of the more recent issues, but the solution ended up causing other problems + breaking several 3rd party tools in the mean time.

Yeah, I hear ya. I've found LW's general level of quality/stability worsening substantially from LW2015 onwards.

Hard to say now. When you consider OS changes, hardware changes etc., there are always multiple factors.

I never had any HUB related problems though until the 2018 series. Most crashes I have these days are usually in Layout from pushing memory limit.

I'm more concerned about a general decline in customer support. I've noticed it's been growing in all types of softwares and electronics.

Not only in software and electronics, it seems to be a trend in society overall, from services in banks, communal services, state services etc.
The concept seem to be..do as much you can yourself, with the help of internet and FAQ and AI designed formulas.
That way no personal needs to spend time on any support and can do other things.

Fill in the blank time? How about Actually Released?

More stable would be good. Then again, I've not had the crashing issues that seem to be endemic; pretty much a bog standard Windows installation. Most of my crashes have been user initiated, though I have found a couple of holes and duly reported them.

I've noticed the rather abrupt decline of communication from Newtek as well.
