Lightwave is a very special software

Vizrt, give it the corporate love it deserves. Lightwave is the Hill of Crosses of 3D.

Maybe VizRT will see potential with Lightwave as a product and invest more in it's development or possibly sell it off to another company who will invest in it. There is no reason that Lightwave shouldn't be competing with other 3D programs that have a lengthy history like Cinema 4D.

why if they earn money on it, they could wait till they see that not happening as much as they need.
I am more convinced that maybe selling modeler seperate for 20-25 usd, would be the way to go, as an option of course, preferably carefully bundled as a package with gathered plugins, and a potentional deal with third party commercial bundles as well.

That's a complex term. What does that mean? What licensing? How much of the code do you think is eligible to be open sourced?

POV-Ray is open source. Blender has been open source for over 20 years and it has only recently become valued.

Open source projects still require capital, management, and marketing.

I have a plan. Always did. Maybe we can give that a go now since everyone else has blown it?

It is very special software. It's up to us to see this through. It's the 30th anniversary of LightWave3D this year. I think we will have a good year.

Having seen what vizRT use for their 3d work now, its hard not to believe they wont want to replace it with LW and keep investment going in LW.

Exactly. The tech is not perfect but precisely in line with the goal of rendering and editing 3D realtime.

I guess that is the big question. What potential does VizRT see in Lightwave? It might take them a while to decide on a business plan for it.

Recycle it, put the quantum particles inside of the lw code, make it faster.

    create quantum particles...
as far as i know you cannot do that, since all atoms already obtain quantum particles.
