Seriosly I can't mirror Weight Maps in LightWave 11.6?

    Hello,
Glorious LightWave community! really? I can't mirror weight maps? it's a trivial feature that should be there since Lightwave 1.0, I tore my hair out as if I had any trying to figure how to mirror this weight map to the other side, all plugins are outdated and didn't work with my version, and no I will not upgrade to 2019 yet.

As simple as it is I just want to mirror the weight map to the -x axis any help?

Some background I earlier only used LightWave for modeling now I'm consider it to be my main animation tool for the couple of the next projects but I'm facing horror on this side, please help.

I can't remember what all 11.6 had in that regard but there should be 3rd party utils readily available still that work quite well. Do a bit of searching; the recommended ones should be easy to find.

Don't know when it came in but 2019 does have mirror VMaps.

I have found the solution the tool I should use is Vertex Paint it's in modeler this tool is a gem I didn't know how powerful it is until now, it allows the artist to apply a weight map for each bone and interactivly visualize the effect on the model, you can also rotate bones, the catch is I have to create the skelegon in modeler, the tool will create a weight map for each bone, I paint the weight maps normally then I can copy then paste -x on the other section of the model on the opposite bone, this solved my problem.

note; they take 5min to finish running.

you can also simply mirror the object over again, using for example plugin >

however, Symmetry will of course "delete" any made UV map.
so best to UV things last.

yes, should be an easier / better way.

One of the best plugins for lightwave is blender, use OD_CopyPasteExternal for exchanging, works almost realtime.
BTW, in blender, weight maps is called vertex groups, copy your vertex groups > mirror vertex groups OR mirror vertex groups(topology), DONE!

Except Lightwave can already do this... he's just using a version from 2012 instead of the current version.

Can't believe nobody's mentioned 3rdPower's PaintWeights plugin yet ( http://www.3rdpowers.com/index_store.html -- see PaintWeights). Runs fine in 11.6 last I checked, and is a killer toolset that allows you to do almost all weight map work in Layout needed for animation.

Apart from Mirror Weight Map, during character animation process, you will sooner or later also need to Mirror Morph and Flip Morph.
TrueArt's Modeling Pack has tools Mirror Morph and Flip Morphs like I showed on this video:

It works with your LW 11.6.

That wouldn't work with 11.6. 2015 is the earliest OD Tools supports.
