Sure, I'm not saying _you_ should not use it for that kind of stuff...
if you are an lw user you should defintive try it out and see if its good enough for your needs.
In no way should my personal preference be an indicator in any way.
And if you are into archviz (seen your webpage, good modeling.) and you have a lw only pipeline, the last 2 updates might be godsend for your needs.

    Rod Seffen(Oddity)
He mainly used Lightwave for rendering, and Mudbox for his modeling/sculpting.

Yes much of his sculpting/modeling work was eventually done in Mudbox but before Mudbox got released he would just SubD model his sculptures in Lightwave and they were just as impressive. He also used FPrime for much of his rendering from what I remember.

Yes I find Lightwave works great for Arch Viz work although I find the new render engine is usually a bit on the slow side like some other render engines out there so I remedied that with a faster CPU.

Taron actually created the current Lightwave 3D logo many years ago with some feedback from Brad Peebler who was involved with Lightwave at the time to come up with the final version. I have always loved the Lightwave logo and hope that it never changes!

I didnīt know about Taron being the creator of it.
The lightwave Logo is still great, funny how houdini, and also blender has a similar base design approach, some kind of spiral main design..I think even 3d max has that same spiraling principle.
    So who was first?

Taron moving over to work with zbrush seems like a natural way to go when you work with that kind of characters he did.
Taron did a nice little fluid painter software(verve) not sure I installed it on the machine I have now..will have to check, I recall antivirus always complaining and autoremoving it though, so you may need to make an exception manually for the download and access of it.

I donīt think heīs done any updates to verve, personally I would like to have seen him take a step away from that flashy kai tools interface styled controls, I didnīt like how to control the brushes etc, but the respons and features of painting with fluid media was awesome.

I did some searching found the old thread on the Vemeer Milkmaid that Rod Seffen recreated in Lightwave. There is also a wire frame in the thread showing the SubD model.

I recall his Milkmaid - beautiful work. A shame he got into trouble with the law, and disappeared off the radar.

Yes I would have liked to see what kind of work he would be or is doing now but not sure if he kept doing 3d art after his troubles or not. He may be laying low doing freelancing for all we know.

Ya I recall Brad mentioning in a modcast or one of his promo talks how he got Taron to recreate the Lightwave logo for the Lightwave 6 release. Taron was a big Messiah user as well.

based on dates, i think the LightWave logo came first, but hard to say for sure.
3dmax / Blender had an early release, but i think the logos came later on.
