Thread: Happy Halloween LightWavers! LIGHTFORGE HAS LAUNCHED!

  1. #16
We are having a problem with the payments processing for those of you who signed up an attempted to purchase credits. None of those transactions have completed and no one has been charged for those credits. We are working on this right now and trying to get a resolution going with the payments processing company (paypal) who unfortunately are not "with it" right at the moment.
    Please stand by.

Given the lack of any sort of trial/demo credits, requiring a minimum purchase of 50 credits (~US$55) seems too high IMO. I'm not interested in tying up that much in non-refundable credits until I've convinced myself for certain that I'll be able to efficiently fit Lightforge into my workflow. I really suggest lowering the minimum purchase (at least initially), or providing some kind of new member trial credits, or equivalent allowing customers to explore and try Lightforge.

Just one guy's opinion, YMMV, etc.

could be, but like Kat said >
    3. we are looking at a possible "group render credit' buy in program for you kats which will greatly provide for spiffy discounts.
...so might be something coming up later on.

OK! Happy times. It looks like we have resolved that payment processing thingy. Be advised it will show up as Liberty3d.com as the payment destination (that's us, don't worry) with my hotmail address attached (again, that me). Just how its set up for now but it is working and we just tested it again.

For those of you who attempted to purchase credits this weekend but it didn't go through, you can do so now, and I will spot you 10% of your purchase in additional credits. Sound good?

    happy times.

We have reduced the min purchase price to 25.
But as for the rest of your opinion, it's simply not doable.

We pay for every single watt consumed+. The trap with render services is the free/trial credits. We've seen it sink some places and then the result is you pay more for when you actually want to render. So there you go.
It's like shoplifting economics. Same thing. People go to EXTREME lengths to get free credits to render their jobs an the farm has to pass that cost on to others.

    That should help, thanks!

BTW, http://www.lightforge.cc still seems to go to some kind of placeholder screen, and oddly, https://www.lightforge.cc never seems to reach anywhere. Figured you'd want to know.

    Because that's NOT THE DOMAIN.
    It's https://render.lightforge.cc
    The support site is https://support.lightforge.cc

The WWW is reserved for something that is coming soon. (More on that later).
For now the 2019.1.4 profile is not working, but 2018.0.7 is just fine it seems. I think some of the plug-ins I loaded last night for 2019.1.4 are being problematic. I have to go through them one by one and see which one is broken in the config causing it to error out and stop the jobs I'm submitting as tests. I will figure it out later this evening. It shouldn't be too hard to track down. once it is, that configuration will stay locked for a while.

    Cheers.

Ok so there is something wrong with Infinimap on 2019.1.4. Just having the plug-in present in the plug-in folders causes LWSN to crash out even if its not being called in scene file. I will have to trouble shoot this with Mike Wolf when I have a spare moment or few.

FrameD is also temporarily on hold as a result for 2019.1.4, but strangely nothing as far as problems with either in 2018.0.7.

We have resolved all transaction, payment and log-in issues with the site and the LightForge Render Network Cloud-UI.
It's come to our attention that many people are getting confused by the difference between a studio account and user account. We have more information on this coming, but on initial login on the Cloud-UI application, use...

    Studio: My Studio Name Here
    username: administrator
    password: ThePassWordUsedOnTheWebsite

At any time should you run into an issue with the password not being accepted by the cloud-UI, request a password reset from it directly and it will instantly send you a new one via email.
We cannot see any password used on the system (its fully encrypted using MD5 technology) in any way. If you lose your password, simple request a new one from the site or the Cloud-UI. You can only change it afterwards by logging into the render.lightforge.cc website under the account name you used to originally sign up. this is for your protection and for the ease of use and management benefits that come from Studio Accounts being able to manage other artists under it. This also means that the studio account is the only one that can purchase render credits. Again, this is done for the protection of our users and for producers, studio heads who control the money to keep someone from going insane and blowing all the credits in an account, as the studio account controller, from the website can enable or disable users from the Cloud-UI.

We really look forward to seeing what you kats pump out for awesome renders using this thingy we built for you so you can take on bigger clients and go for bigger jobs with it in your arsenal. Send us an email if you want to have your artwork featured in any of our promotions or documentation!

As always, any questions, ideas, suggestions, issues, meowing out loud to say hi... contact me.

    Cheers!
