LightWave 3D« 2019.1.4 is Available Now

LightWave 3D« 2019.1.4 is available now in the Registration system as a free update for registered LightWaveÖ 2019 users.

This update introduces support for Unreal Engine 4.23. In addition, several issues in Unreal support have been addressed. The Windows installer is fixed to account for a change in Windows 10 on how the version is reported to queries - this caused a variety of issues including that runtime packages required were not being installed.

    Availability & Pricing

LightWave 3D 2019.1.4 for Windows and Mac OS is available now for USMSRP $995.

Registered owners of previous versions of LightWave 3D (LightWave 2018 and earlier) can log in to the registration system to get the pricing for upgrade from their current registered version to LightWave 2019.1.3, and to complete the purchase. LightWave owners who are eligible for special pricing under the terms of a previous purchase will need to contact LightWave Customer Services directly for their purchase arrangements.

Same here! But I noticed some strange things; so hopefully this resolves the "wonkiness."

I've just installed this but it's not automatically listed in my Windows 10 Start window. When I pinned it there manually it doesn't say the version number. It's just 'Modeler'and 'Layout'.

I heard a rumor that as of this update Lightwave no longer supports Windows 7, is that accurate?

Yep - I usually don't do this but at the end of the install where it asks if you want to add shortcuts to your desktop, I went ahead and added them. And then put them in my start menu. When putting shortcuts on the desktop the version numbers were intact. I did this on my install because earlier in the day the same issue you mentioned happened on another users install.

That would be something we would mention in the update description if it were the case.

I'm running it on Windows 7 now.

The rumor might have simply spawned from a mention of Win 10 compatibility improvements...

I reinstalled with shortcuts too. I don't know if it might be a consequence of the Windows 1903 update or an oversight on the programmers' part. But it's just a minor workaround for those who have gotten used to Windows 10's start menu system.

Is there now a *requirement* that the Windows installer in a Windows 10/latest context be run as Administrator?

When I try installing either the 2019.1.3 or 2019.1.4 installers, the process briefly shows its UI, then that disappears. The process is still running though, and ends up in an endless loop, using 10% of CPU and continually chewing up increasing amounts of RAM.

I've not had problems installing LW in recent memory...

I'm using Windows 10, latest version/updates, and have long had the VS2012 redistributables installed, so there is no need to install those again.

I'm logging an issue ... I've tried everything I know to try with no luck. Odd that others are not being affected...
