    Transcoder request

Ill just repost what I put in the Help Desk. They said No to both questions so I am putting it in here. This new Transcode feature make Tricaster very hard to use.

Updated to Advanced Edition 3 and love most of the features you added. The problem I have is the Transcode feature. IS there a way to tell the Transcoder where to put files?

Here is the problem. I have more than 450 videos and I would never put them on the same drive that runs the computer. In fact when I started using it I filled the C drive. That took some work but I got it back. Then I thought I would move them back to the drive I keep them on but that did not work. If I do that they still show as needing transcoding and the T with the circle shows up again.
    .
The T with the circle around it is very close to the sound icon that I use all the time, usually in a hurry, and it is easy ti accidentally hit that T. If that happens there is no way out and if I am broadcasting live at the time the only way I found to get the machine back is with a hard reboot.

Question 1: Is there a way to shut off the Transcode feature?
Question 2: Is there a way ti direct the output of the transcoder or at least to have it put the file in the source directory?

Thanks so much. The recent changes to Adv3 remind me of some of the old Toaster features. Nice work.

Will try this over the weekend, but I thought all of my imported clips did in fact goto the drive on which the session is stored. Is your session stored on the C:\ instead of one of the media drives?

The Export engine will output the clips to whatever directoty is listed in the preset. Do you mind taking a screenshot of what you are seing.

He is talking about the transcoder with the import tool (or the 'T') icon on video clips.

These files will be imported to the same location as the session, the C: drive would not be a location used. I checked on my system, during trancode the Windows temp directory does not appear to be used.

If you use the Import Media tool to bring in files into the system (recommended), then you wouldn't need to transcode as all clips will be processed on import.

My recollection is that, if you hit the transcode gadget accidentally, you can cancel it using the clip context menu (I think, not near a TC right now).

There is a right click option to cancel transcode.
