    Secure Reliable Transport (SRT)

Hello! I was wondering if Tricaster it has or will adopt Secure Reliable Transport (SRT). VMIX is already implement it, Matrox use already.

I'm sure it is on the roadmap, but I do not have any details. It is a chicken and egg scenario right now, no major streaming destinations support Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) at the moment (Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo, Twitter/Periscope). With TriCaster being a software product, there is certainly no reason that it can't be added when the time comes.

I believe the main use today would be running your own Wowza based CDN (which some do).

Streaming Media video about SRT that I found.

Low latency point to point streaming could be a use case as well. vMix is implementing both input and output support for srt.

You can do this with many NDI over internet transport solutions. Plus they can give you many additional features like tally, PTZ camera control, alpha channel, syncing of video channels.

But don't get me wrong, I'd like to see SRT show up and I'm sure it will in time.

As Kane says - solutions already exist for SRT support which are compatible with NewTek products and which include many additional features beyond just carrying video.

The original NDI over Internet solution, Sienna.Cloud for NDI uses StreamCertain which is very very similar to SRT (they are both fundamentally based on the same UDT standard). This carries the extra metadata for Tally, PTZ and even closed captions (with RP-NDI-CC708) and also has a benefit of using a single port for any number of streams, making configuration simple.

And the new Sienna Remote Monitor for NDI uses SRT for transport

and finally Sienna NDI Processing Engine has SRT to NDI and NDI to SRT modules.
