NDI PTZO cameras with Tricaster Mini

While we've used a Tricaster system for many years, I'm somewhat new to the NDI realm.

We have a new Tricaster Mini and PTZO NDI cameras. All firmware is updated. My TC Mini is set for HD (59.94), and so are the cameras (option B). Everything is ethernet (power, control, video). I get jittery video with any significant movement by the camera or object. Anything I should try? Thanks all. David

Make sure network on Mini is set to WORK or PRIVATE, as PUBLIC does not do well with NDI.

The Mini does not support 60p (59.94p) so when you say Mini is set to HD (59.94) that would have to be 1080i, which is 29.97 frames per second (59.94 frames). So make sure DIP switches on NDI camera are set to 1080i, and not 1080 59.94 which would actually be 60p which is not supported on Mini. Might be easy to confuse the 59.94 settings between the two.

    Thanks

Ah, the dreaded i vs. p conundrum. I shall recheck those settings.

And the downside of the DIP switches is that if the camera is already mounted (wall or ceiling) it's a pain to access those settings!

    Thanks

I believe some units, at least, will allow remote control or web-based setting changes to override the DIP switches.

I was thinking of Newtek PTZ1 cams with switches on the bottom. If "PTZO" means PTZ Optics, then they have the dial switch on the rear that can be accessed without removing the mount.

    Thanks

I'm still not having luck with clean video from PTZO NDI cameras with the Tricaster Mini over ethernet. SDI output is fine, and I do have power and control over the cameras with ethernet. I've tried different frame settings on both the cameras and the TC. Can you recommend precise setting for the Mini and PTZO NDI cameras? Also, I read that the network setting on the Mini should not be set for Public, which I believe ours is. Should I change that? Thank you.

YES, definitely get the network off of Public, that is likely the issue as stated in my first reply above - "Make sure network on Mini is set to WORK or PRIVATE, as PUBLIC does not do well with NDI."

    Thanks

Well I made the network change, but no results. I even disconnected the network and just used the gb switch directly, and no change. So, to review, I have the TC Mini and camera set for 1080/59.94i.

Look at page 43 of this manual - https://ptzoptics.com/wp-content/upl...5-rev-7-19.pdf

Looks like "NDI Mode" is OFF by default.

I prefer the Newtek cameras, they really are plug-n-play most of the time, no jumping through hoops to get them working

BINGO! It was the frame rate in the stream settings. It was only 25. THANK YOU!

Aha! I guess we both learned something new today, I didn't think about that as it is normally set with switches on camera.

Glad to get you going in right direction to figure it out

    Thanks
