No one here said that LightWave was dead and no one said that you shouldn't use LightWave. If you like using LW, you should absolutely use it, software is for a lot of people, a personal choice.
What was argued that LW workflow is outdated. People are still dealing with legacy issues from over two decades ago and the way people work in LW is out of line with what everyone else is doing. And you may like that for some reason, nothing wrong with it. The lack of GPU really almost anywhere in LW is really just icing on the top.

I read "Norwegian blue" as a joke.
No, LightWave ain't no "Norwegian blue".
if Prometheus wrote it as a joke, can't say, i'll wait for his reply.
as for Giger, well... i'll let him answer

i'll add this tho' [!]
There is no denying Modeler has been close to untouched for ~15 years [!]

VizRT's lack of LightWave acknowledgement has also been unlucky.
But users have discussed LightWave marketing before, and it is a closed chapter.

To be honest, I find that particularly lucky in a glass-half-full kinda way. If their business is mostly all things video, the last thing needed is a sudden rash decision on the spur of the moment - "That little Lightwave thing ? Well subscription seems to be the in-thing, let's do that. It's what the people want".Or worse, they could tune in to the forum first.

Oh Lord I hope they don't do that. That would be catastrophic. Chuck and Steve would really have their work cut out convincing VizRT that we aren't all Blender fanboiz in disguise who hate LW.
I don't think there's enough money in the world to pay them to take on that challenge.

This seems to miss the fact that from the moment of the acquisition, those of us who moderate and reply here and those who work on LightWave are Vizrt. On behalf of Vizrt, we've very much acknowledged LightWave and issued a feature update and two maintenance updates that followed.

Thanks, I'll conclude the Vizrt statement as settled.
Seems you can’t win for losing on this forum. I for one have been very pleased with the latest versions and the engagement the development team has shown, and I am surely not alone.
LightWave Layout is much better with 2019. Quite Good.
I've been testing AppX lately, and there are "only" two Big LightWave lacks at the moment.
- Lattice in Layout (native)
- Modeler rewrite (or part-rewrite)
So i get the complaints, especially in regards to Modeler. But at the same time agree with Chuck, LightWave is still climbing.
-------
...and i could fill in quite a long "this is lacking" list for AppX. so, there's that.
...some seem to think other apps don't have big lacks.

Absolutely!
it was a major generalization, and should be read as such.
