    LW to Unreal Bridge 2019.1

So I tried out the bridge connector to Unreal to see if the image thing has been fixed. Nope.

Can't manage Principled shaders with multiple images (diffuse, rough, etc) with LW to unreal via the bridge. Only the first image goes over (diffuse) and ignores everything else.

This makes texturing rather tedious (and actually kills my workflow).

I've reported this way back when bridge was released. Still not fixed. Even changing out the diffuse image, I can't get it to update in unreal. It keeps to the original diffuse image.

Any ETA as to when we can work with multiple images for texturing?

Already submitted this bug/feature lack a long time ago (v 2018?).

Does the Unreal material do what you need?

you probably don't want to use the unreal material as you have to select it every time, whereas principled is created by default. If you could set the preferred default material type, that would rectify that workflow issue.

I have had the unreal materials working correctly with multiple maps via substance and fbx, if that is any good to you?

I've succesfully worked with Unreal's principled shader using other apps (substance, etc), but LW Bridge seems to not support multiple images. It's limited to just one, and even after that, can't change the image out. Unreal refuses to update the single image if it's been swapped in LW.

    Bummer.

    Hi Dillon!

Sending/updating multiple images through the bridge should work, which case # was your bug report filed under?

    Hi David,

I'm sorry, I didn't record what # was assigned to my submission.

I dug a little deeper just now. I now see that there's an error message attached to several images in the material editor for UE; that color modes are set to linear, when they should be set to color. After changing this in the mat editor in unreal, the material and their other images show up correctly. This happens irregardless if I plug an image node (in LW) into the shader via luma or color channel into the shader (principled). If I make a change in LW, unreal errors out the material again, due to the linear/color sample mode being applied to the image. I'm forced to reset the sample color mode from linear to color every time I make a material change in LW.

Additionally, I now see that after importing via bridge, I was expecting the images to show up in the material folder. They actually show up in the textures folder for the project, not in the imported folder created by the LW bridge import function. That was confusing. I expected the images/mesh/materials to all reside in the folder imported via LW.

    Thanks David.

Could you please attach a simple scene to a post in this thread which reproduces the issue for you, and could you tell me which exact version of Unreal Engine you are using?

I just submitted a bug report with the requested file. The browser isn't allowing me to upload via NT forum for some reason.

    Unreal 4.22.

Should be fixed in the recently released 2019.1.4!
