Lightwave's native renderer produces excellent renders. I don't think anyone can really argue with that.

It is simply too slow. Specifically in this brand new world of GPU renderers.

AMD Pro Render is sitting right there, SDK in hand, waiting for LWDG to create a viable plug-in.

It's a great option and considering its expanded inclusion in so many 3d applications, it will probably continue to have excellent development support.

There are five months left in the year; more than enough time for a skilled render engine programmer (or two) to get this done and give your 'wavers something a bit more robust for those times when we need something native and are in deep crunch to get those renders out.
