    Translation of Chinese from images

I've some image assets I'm using on some paper lanterns. I'm sure they're all innocuous but for some reason I'd kinda like to know what they're saying before i strew a couple dozen into my scene.

    Here are some samples:

I gave Advance Google Image search a try, but hits came back in Chinese, so not much help there.

Any suggestions how to go about this? I've about 25-30 of these.

Google translate supports photos and camera translations too: https://support.google.com/translate...DAndroid&hl=en

If you have a great need, I have a friend or two who might be able/willing to translate them for you. Edit: if the technology falls through.

This is great folks. I'll assemble some more to post a bit later then since I'm not having much luck finding online means.

    Hey Sensei and Teruchan,

How did you convert the images of the characters into a digital representation (i.e. a Unicode value)? Did you use an electronic tool of some sort (i.e. a Chinese Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tool), or did you recognize the characters and type them in for translation?

    Thanks,
    mTp

I was sort of wondering that too.

Turns out that there are 41 images so I crunched them down & zipped. Seems like some others are interested in these as well. Posting them here in a copy & pasteable form is great as a matter of fact. No hurry & really appreciate this.

Point your phone at the computer screen, with the symbol on screen.

    You''re assuming I have a "smart" phone. Which I don't. By choice.

I have a Chinese IME on my laptop and my phone. I can write Chinese characters using pinyin. I can also use speech to text via Dragon. I lived in China for many years. I can't read very well, but if I recognize one character I can guess in a few tries, especially since the first character is the same and auto-complete gives options.

Alrighty then, how about MS translator on PC? Claims image search, but I have not tested myself:

Windows Store may need a recent Windows version.
