Cancel it and get the new Super version in 2 weeks.

Price should be similar as current 2080 Vanilla, but closer in performance to 2080 Ti. Not a biggie for LW , but for raytraced games.

Or change the 2080 for a 2070 Super, same perf, lower price. https://www.komplett.no/product/1134...uper-ventus-oc

...there's always a new graphics card just around the corner. The one I've ordered (and has shipped already) is way, WAY beyond what I really need for gaming; though I'm hoping it will handle big models a lot better then my current one.

Yes, I'm going to get the 3950X, if the price turns up to be what has been announced. Alternately, the 3900x is a good alternative.

60 day "open buy", so you can still return the 2080, get the cheaper 2070 Super (same performance).
Buy an LW plugin for the change you will save

Intel will be back in 2021 with new 7nm CPUs, until then, AMD will rule the market: https://www.techradar.com/news/intel...ips-until-2021

All benchmarking states you are wrong about that. In any event, it is better to have lower spechet top model that a juiced up lower one. The V2 is also physically quite small, which I like. The main investment will anyway be the 3950x and subsequent harware.

...yeah they'll be back, but also more expensive. If I was only gaming, I would have stuck with my 4790K, now running stable at 4,5GHz on all cores, courtesy of a good air cooler.

For rendering on 2070SUPER vs 2080 it seems to be the same.
Vray is 4% faster on 2070S and Luxmark is 3% faster on 2080:

Just trying to make you save a few bucks to buy LW plugins instead, to support the few struggling LW coders...

...well, Komplett is using Postnord now, so I recon there's a one in three chance it will never arrive anyway
