    Skype

Fixing to do local election coverage and want to use skype to talk to the winners. Having never done this before I will be using a new TC1 and my question is. Does the onscreen talent need an ear piece to hear the skype caller?

Based upon our Skype use, you can use a stage speaker or headphones. The advantage of headphones is the elimination of possble echo or feedback. We usually recommend the remote user as always use earbuds or such.

And make sure and setup a mix-minus return feed for your Skype caller. If they get their own audio sent back to them with delay, they are likely to have a lot of problems with the conversation.

The TC1 built in Skype channels automatically get a mix.minus so that is cool!

And just few general tips on using Skype with TC1, if you've never touched it before:

    1) The calls are set up and managed outside the TriCaster, meaning another PC on same network running the (free) Microsoft Skype TX Control software.

    2) I believe you must add a Windows Password to TC1 before Skype will work (password required during Windows bootup on TC1 machine)

    3) Give yourself a lot of time to get this configured and set up to get comfortable with the entire workflow. And I don't mean a few days either, start as far ahead as humanly possible and don't delay.

Number of the threads also talk about how you can still configure windows to automatically login with the password if you still want it to automatically boot up into the sessions etc.
