    Team17 Worms models found...

Team17's antique Amiga 4000 firing up lightwave with the old worms game models

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcyHqJ6ZHXs

I thought it was cool when I found an unfinished project and Lightwave 5 on an old laptop, this is much cooler...

Great stuff, 23 years later machine still boots up. Amiga was way ahead of it's time, pity that Commodore destroyed it .

The whole first half of that video was nonsense but the second half was pretty cool!

Love seeing stuff like this. The last bit where we see Lightwave in action is great. Pity the models and scenes aren't available for us miscreants to pick apart...

At one point it is mentioned that some of the files are named or tagged as 'meta'...
I'm sure this refers to what we had before subpatches were available. Is this the 'metaform' we now have included into our 'subdivide polygons' tool? Or was it a different tool, long vanished?

    yes, still available in,
    C:\Program Files\NewTek\LightWave11.6.2\support\plugins\legac y\modeler\MetaForm.p

probably not a 64bit version though

    Good thinking...
Ha! It's still in the zipped legacy folder in LW2019. metaform.p, loads as metaformplus in the menus. Working in 64bit too.

ah, cool, I remember test-running it before Catmull/Clark came to the table

(metaform had better roundness than SubPatches)

I’m pretty sure he did - I don’t know the guy or the team, but remember that being mentioned somewhere.

I did bits of work on a few of the series, including the FMV segments for Worms World Party. I was just looking through the files today after watching the video with Cris!

I do remember being blown away by the fmv in those early games.
Some great work in there for the time!
