strange shadows / artifacts / splotches

Hi everybody, I'm driving crazy with this simple turntable scene. I've subdivide the model to the limit, then triple it, no non-planar polygons, no more than 4 sides, al of them subpatch. I extracted this animated GIF:

These are my GI settings. I was reducing the angular tolerance and maximum pixel spacing also to the limit, but problem continued. Also lot of primary and secondary rays and also interpolation softness:

I also disabled the normal maps and blurred the HDRI, but nothing.

    Any ideas are welcome!

I would try using an Environment light as your only light. Turn off "Enable GI" completely. Then set the intensity of your Environment light to 1 to match the intensity of your backdrop. It defaults to sampling the Backdrop settings (Gradient backdrop, Image World, etc.).

The problem is, interpolated Gi is activated.
when the interpolated is in use, you must to enable interpolated cache. They work together.

    Or use brute force alone

As mentioned, you should use an Environmental light.

For aerial items, I came across this one that I like a lot.

Also, your settings are extremely excessive. I know you were most likely experimenting. But this is also related to the light in that you need to set the samples for the light itself.

I'm still working on this one myself but should give you some decent starting points:

Since it looks good, unfortunately I wasn't able to achieve exactly the cool look of GI:

Glad it helped. If you do want the look of GI, you could do aperezg mentioned above. Use Brute Force GI without interpolation turned on. Just set your Rays to 1 or 2 and slowly work up if needed. That will render fast without any of the flickering you were getting.

You're getting double reflections is why its different... if you're using envirolight, either... turn off "affect specular" for the light and have the surface's reflection shading options set to raytrace+BG... or... set surface reflection to raytrace only and enable spec for the light.

Thanks everybody for the ideas!! I finally solved the thing!! RebellHill, turning off "affect specular" gave me the point to add enviro as secondary light, leaving my initial light (distant with sunspot) to affect only specular in the model, so I've got that oranged sun reflections that reveal all the bump work.
That hdr is the one I was using, Ma3rk! it's a 10 BTW nice model you did!

Alejandro I activated interpolated cache to continue using GI, testing each mode (all 4), clearing cache each time, animation also activated, but splotches didn't disappear

Interpolated cache only works for camera only motion. You can use interpolated for other types of motion, but it takes a bit of wrangling to get right. For something like this, envirolight is by far the best option, if you have it set up right, your results should be little to no different from GI.
