    Facebook issues (again)

    All,

Did Facebook change their API over the last week?

Suddenly, from my log in which could manage other pages, I can only post live video to my personal page.

This is on Advanced Edition 2, version 180911.

Found this out the hard way and had to quickly jump onto my page and share the program out to the main program page. Not fun to try and do this while you're cutting a live show!

    Thanks!

Same exact issue here (although I wasn't savvy enough to stream to personal and share to page). I am on AE2 Rev 5-1-181112.

I had the same problem today on Facebook. Could only stream to my personal page. Other pages that I manage were not available on the Newtek share app. Thanks for your post Fritz, nice to know I'm not alone in this strange Facebook world. I thought of streaming to my personal page and sharing it to my main page too late in the program. At least I can upload from my recording. I am running AE2 Version: 5-1-181220. I just downloaded the new AE3 but I don't know if it will fix this issue.

The same issue started Saturday, Feb. 2nd, 2019. I have to create custom profile and do the old fashioned way to work around.

Hi schlenkera, can you give more details on how to do the custom profile workaround?

    Thanks,

Hi Stephen, not sure how much details you would need. You'll have to use a web browser directly on the Tricaster production session to login to Facebook. Are you familiar with Facebook Live stream using the OBS?
    Thanks!

Hi schlenkera, no, I'm not familiar with OBS. The only experience I have with streaming is through TriCaster's AE2 Facebook profile functionality. Is OBS another application I need to install on my TriCaster machine?

    Thanks,
    Stephen

No worries, just wanted to see your familiarity with the manual FaceBook stream so I can picture how much details I needed to put in here. Anyway, here's it is:
    - Click gear icon next to the STREAM
    - Click Web Browser…
    - Login to your Facebook (and go to the page that you manage and wanted to do the Live stream)
    - Click Publishing Tools (in the top white menu items area)
    - Click Videos (in the left navigation panel)
    - Click + Live
(from the popup windows), click “Copy” to copy the Facebook Server URL (another pop up might come up to asked you “Do you want to allow this webpage to access your Clipboard?), click “Allow access”
Now, click the gear icon next to the STREAM again and go to New Connection>> Custom …
    - Name your Connection and paste the copied URL to the Server Address field
    - Choose streaming profile at the bottom:
    Type: RTMP
Profile: (Whatever that you uses to stream before) frameset and bit rate
    - Type in your Facbook user name and Password
    - Click OK
    - Go back to Web Browser … (by clicking gear icon next to the STREAM) which will bring you back to the previously opened FB dialogue box
    - Now, copy the Stream Key
    - Go back to the newly created profile (by clicking gear icon next to STREAM and clicking another gear icon next to the profile name
    - Paste the Stream Key into the Stream ID field
    - Click OK.
    - Now you make sure that profile and other profiles that you want your live stream to go has the check marked next to them
    - Start the stream
    - Go back to the Web Browser (by clicking gear icon next to the STREAM)
    - Click Go Live at the bottom right corner in the FB dialogue box (You are now live streaming on the FB page of your choice, check with another laptop/desktop or phone)
    - Then Click X to close the FB dialogue box (warning might come up but just choose leave the page)

*This workaround required you to get a new stream key each time you want to go live (unless you use “persistent stream key” on your FB page). Good Luck!

The part I don't understand is why this keeps popping up. Usually API changes are known before hand etc. I haven't see the same frequency of issues with other solutions I use that integrate with Facebook. I haven't updated Wirecast but it still appears to be working after this weekend.

    Hey Kane,

It might be worth spreading that on NewTek's social media too, like Facebook and Twitter, just to give people a head's up before they hit that problem?

FYI. I'm told the issue was fixed today, but needs to pass scrutiny by QA before release. Hopefully this won't be long ...
