I don't want to dampen anyones spirits here, but though good to reflect from time to time, I don't think NT wants LW to be like "that sad old guy in the corner of the bar" who keeps boring everyone with stories of what he used to do when younger. With the new PBR engine and development going forward, it is time for looking to the future.

Still are by the look of it, the ever most popular sharknado! At least some one has started updating the list again, recent manga and star wars films now in there (probably have clarisse to thank for that as its first native format was lwo)
    Intel i9 7980xe, Asus Rampage Vi extreme, 2x NVIDIA GTX1070ti, 64GB DDR4 3200 corsair vengeance,

I disagree completely about the "boring everyone with stories..." part of your comment.

Look at the dates on some of those; they're very recent.

Personally, I'm always interested in seeing what's being done with LightWave -- even going back through its history. There's some very impressive LW3D work out there and I find that it inspires me to do better. Plus it raises my curiosity as to how they achieved the shots they did. That and people are constantly asking me what LightWave's used in and are often surprised to find out.

As for looking to the future... I'm all for it.

I, too, agree that it is important to look back at the history of a particular software - to see its roots and achievements without seeming "sad". I don't think that ILM looks back at Jurassic Park and thinks that they used an old and sad animation program called SoftImage. At least Lightwave is still in development. At some point or another, all software will become obsolete. I like to say to people that Jurassic Park was made with software that nobody uses anymore - an amazing achievement.

But, yes, I agree with looking toward the future with what will be done next with Lightwave.

I was just going from the point of view that many of us on a LW forum are already either interested or convinced by LW, so was just wondering about the next B5 or BSG for new users, but maybe was a bit too harsh about it. Also agree with things raised here.

Stargate Universe hired Image Engine to do their Vfx, who at the time used LW. https://youtu.be/t2oQvZUiZJY

I believe they also did the vfx for SG-1 and Atlantis.

I'll second that, LW had MANY Industry firsts and made professional 3D affordable to many.
