    Work Music

    Hi all,

Was wondering what kind of music do you listen to while modeling/animating? I listen to a lot of ambient/downtempo electronic music. Lately I've been listening to these mixes by Epicuros on youtube, they're all sci-fi related.

Usually Iron Maiden, but sometimes I'll mix it up with Motorhead, Metallica, Rammstein and other metal.

Nice thread. This could be a good resource for inspiration of new music if all share.
I listen to all kinds of music from classical to rock and metal and everything in between. When I work I usually listen to instrumental music, here is some of the most recent music I've listen to.

My music collection is 90% television and movie soundtracks. I listen to a lot of Star Trek (of which my collection is massive!), Titanic, Disney stuff, Avatar, horror movies, Yugioh, etc. The other 10% is stuff like The Phantom Of The Opera, Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds, Christmas music, and so on.

Exclusively dark drone ambient. If it has one single beat or an utterance of vocals, it is immediately removed from my 20+ hour playlist. It must be dark and spooky, but so subtle it's barely there. And the tracks I love most are ones that would be right at home playing in some decaying long dead space station... I don't fool around when it comes to my work ambient yo.

Good stuff! Yeah the 70s electronic music I really dig. This one's a gem

AMIGA was way ahead of its time. It's synth gives me "the feels." Rediscovered Tim Follin, what a genius.

    Hiya!

Depends on what I'm modeling, actually. The stuff I "generally" listen too is:

    - 80's Glam/Hairmetal (Iron Maiden, Def Lepard, Twisted Sister, Ratt, Cinderella, Poison, AC/DC...*LOTS* of AC/DC!)

    - Viking Folk Metal (Grimmner, Skalmold, Finntroll, Solstafir, etc)

    - "WTF Genre??" - Alestorm. LOTS of alestorm...although it is a bit detrimental, because after a half-dozen song I'm too drunk to push points around... (You simply can not listen to this band and not want to drink ale, rum, or port).

    - The Great Masters (re: Mozart, Beethoven, etc)

    - Electronic Managerie (...basically any techno-oriented stuff...downtempo, ambient, dubstep, techno, trance, etc)

    - ok...who am I kidding? I listen to pretty much anything that isn't Country, Gospel, or "top 40 pop" [ 99% of music in the last 15 years has been crap, lets face it...]

I just discovered Nightwish a few months ago and really like their music especially the stuff with their most recent vocalist Floor Jansen.

You are right, Tarja was best singer but was hard to listen to her high altitude voice longer than few minutes. Anette was horrible mistake. Floor Jansen is best choice. I'm listening their last album every day (same as Beyond the red mirror from Blind Guardian) and it is really "The greatest show on earth".
