Mini SDI: DVI and HDMI monitor outputs for user interface and multiviewer displays

    Hey all,

Just putting new SDI AE Mini into service. I thought DVI and HDMI interfaces outputs are active? I switched cables and only the full screen previews and the clock comes up on the DVI. Nothing on HDMI. When I remove the HDMI cable, the DVI shows the main switcher GUI.

    Any ideas?

Are you switching cables while TriCaster is running in Live Production mode? We don't support attaching or removing monitors while TriCaster is in Live Production mode. The system should be exited to the Admin Screen before doing so.

    Hi Zane,

I am turning it totally off before I move any cables around.

Looking at rear of the Mini, the DVI and HDMI ports at lower right (below power port) are specifically for USER INTERFACE and MULTIVIEWER. Doesn't matter which one is which. If connecting a single display (for UI), it must connect to one of those two ports. Note that in ADMIN panel, you can "Switch Primary Monitor" which would send UI to the "other" display when using two displays.

Regarding the two additional DISPLAY ports at upper left rear, those will never display the UI or MultiViewer screens. Rather, these are configured in the Output Configuration panel (gear under Program monitor). Choosing from drop-down menus, with AE you can send virtually any sources to those displays, including M/Es and even Buffers!

Without AE, you would need to enable the two DISPLAY options with their checkboxes before anything outputs on those extra ports. Not sure about AE, have it uninstalled right now, but should be self-explanatory when you get in there and look at it.

As Zane mentioned, never connect/disconnect any displays connected to rear of unit while in the LIVE interface, it gets confused then.

    Thanks
