Post Free Script: Select Surface(s) (Modeler)

Needed this for something recently, thought I'd share it.

Presents a searchable, resizable list of surfaces for the active object. From that list you can multi-select surfaces to then select / deselect polys in Modeler.

This is for when the Statistics 'select surface' option doesn't cut it (as you can only select / deselect one surface at a time).

Check the attached video for more.

    LScript:
    Select_Surface_Script.zip

    Video:
    Select_Surface_Video.zip

    Cheers
    Matt

Note: Due to limitations (or a bug) in LScript, only one object should be selected, if multiple objects are selected it will only show the surfaces from one, how it chooses which one I'm not entirely sure.

Sounds like a very useful script. I usually work a lot with cad data and its not unusual that it comes with many different surfaces that you want to select and rename to one surface. Thanks for sharing!

PS. How does it work when you find a bug? Can you get it fixed faster as you are in the development team or does it just get placed in que as for everyone else?

Really nice addition to Modeler. Um, how do you bring up that initial drop down menu?

And how can I edit it?

Oh I think I found it. Control shift, LMB/MMB/RMB. And editable in the edit menu Layout.

We would add it into the system in the same way users do (so it can be tracked). But of course having direct access to the developers means you can elevate issues etc.

Many issues we've fixed came directly from myself scouring the forums or asking for workflow annoyances that drive users nuts. There are few threads specifically about that on this forum.

Yeah, just the built in Left / Middle / Right Mouse menus that you can edit yourself.
