    UP for LW 2018

    Hi Everybody,

We pleased to announce that UP 1.0 is working in LW 2018. Here's a little workflow demo

UP for LW 2018 requires a new plugin and it's a free update to current owners of UP. The current UP plugin will not work in LW 2018. Some good news is that having the Surface Editor open in LW 2018 while UP is generating fluid meshes does not interfere with baking like it does in LW 2015.

To celebrate the launch of LW 2018, we'll be having a $50 off sale for the first 2 weeks in January. Sale price for UP 1.0 will be $99.

We're currently hard at work on the next update to UP which will include soft bodies, cloth and more.

    Happy New Year!

Good to know. I just downloaded the LW 2018 trial and will check it out.

Hopefully the updated plugin is available right now, as I am registered owner of UP.

Can this be used with the Trial version of LW 2018 by any chance? I Intend to upgrade to LW 2018, but can't do it till the end of January or early February due to budget restraints.

It's been really quiet around here since LW2018 showed up.

I was wondering if anyone was using or trying UP's new update in any tests or works? I have been, but I need to see if it can be posted through the uploads here or if I may have to put it up on YouTube or Vimeo.

One thing I can say is that render times are indeed longer, especially with the surfacing using reflections and complex texturing in LW2018. It's not UP's fault, it's LW's. Anyhow hope to have a sample scene posted soon myself.

did you play with rays recursion limit and reflection refraction samples.. iv found i can get quiet of cutdown just by using less samples ... you need to find sweet spot... also pay attention on lights.. scaled area light can cause longer render times.. try spotlight with size parameter

In my sample, a rendering of the Sticky demo scene, I am using only a Distant Light. I have also added a few embellishments to the overall scene too. i've yet to post the rendered anim.

Render times were 5 to 6 minutes per frame. The hardest thing was getting rid of the render noise in reflections. I've been wrestling with some health issues which have also hindered my efforts of late.

But finally, below are a few images from the animation.

I have also begun to build an entirely original test scene, and have encountered a few issues with regard to parenting of objects and an object that, even though it is saved in the scene, does not reload back into the UP interface list. I'm suspecting a bug, but I'm not sure yet. I'll see if I can get it to Steve to check out

Below is a test render of a frame of that anim. It took about 38 sec.

No activity here lately? In the process of finishing more tests.

Yeah, pretty slow progress. I purchased a few of his other plugins and the lack of 2018 support is disappointing. Makes me think twice before investing in this one

sudac20, I'll be able to post an anim with several tests that I've made and put together. But first I need to add some text to the anims, do a little editing, saving to mp4, and posting it somewhere.

yea... i am still looking for .. let me quote
" LightWave Unified Physics Framework or UP for short. Unified Physics means that you can simulate fluids, rigid and soft bodies, cloth and ropes, all interacting with each other using the same integrated tool within LightWave Layout. See why we’re excited!"
we were promised for lot more than UP squirting , once we were introduced to this

    +1

Been emailing them some times now, got the answer that it’s being worked on. More than a year have now passed since LW 2018 came out and still no sign of a working Advanced Placement. I think that’s quite bad to be honest.
