Will your script run on multiple 4poly selections? ( ie: if you need to make 8 sided polys all over the ball in one go? )

    0. Select 4 polys
    1. Run Connect tool
    2. Switch to Poly Mode
    3. Run Fix 3-5 Script
    4. Contract Selection
    5. Merge Polygons
    6. Run Untangle

Cool technique erikals works perfectly as you demonstrated

I noticed that the higher up the ball the less it worked ( when Fix 3-5 was applied an 8 sided poly wasn't created )
I'm guessing the flatter the 4 poly selection the better it will work - so very good on cubic objects or flat sided objects; and very handy for specific areas on spherical objects too.

A script is still a quicker way to do this but I will try to remember the steps.

    What you were doing here,
you could do as well in
    Wrinkle http://wrinkle.trueart.eu
But it has built-in preset manager so you could even store settings and reuse them any time later in completely different project,
and give surfaces new names, automatically by tool.
With hundred such navels, it could be done with just a few seconds.
Just select some points, and click on Wrinkle, and pick up preset from drop-down.
