    Lightwave Integration Preview

This is definitely the last update for this year. I couldn't resist.

    Looks fantastic!

And all the more important based on recent news. For those who don't know, Next Limit has just released their new version of Real Flow. Version 10. Normally, that would be good news, but there's two pieces of news that are not good for us Lightgwavers.

    1. No Learning Edition. If you want it, just as hobbyist, you have to pay full price which is over 1000 US dollars.
    2. No more Lightwave Support. If you already have a previous version of their software, you still have access to the latest version of their connection software, but I don't know if it will work with RF10, and there will be no more updates for Lightwave. I heard on their forum that very few of their customers use Lightwave as their base 3D program, so they gave us up.

Good luck with this project. If its ever ready for sale, you've got a customer.

    Looks great so far, DarkChief
I could be another potential customer since NextLimit intention to give up LightWave support.

    First Render Test

The first render test in Lightwave, something simple, finally get to see what things will/may look like after rendering. The liquid mesh is a little a little rough, only applied one smoothing pass.

Deep Rising FX Pipeline Integration: Lighwave to Houdini

I just finished implementing the caching system for Deep Rising FX (in memory and disk caching). The supported export and import formats are ".bin", ".bgeo", ".geo", ".mc", ".pda", ".pdb", ".pdc", ".ptc", ".rib". With the buzz that OpenVDB Lightwave support is getting I did a quick video exporting a .bgeo sequence to Houdini and using the VDB meshing tools there, this also demonstrates pipeline integration.

OpenVDB import and exports will not be supported since only meshing is used, and the other formats are optimized for particle data.

This is moving along faster than I predicted, so I think I can confidently say this will probably be released.
