    Smile VR (virtual reality)

the other day I was looking into VR (virtual reality) and the htc vive and I was wondering if it's already possible to have a design and import it into a vr environment?
For instance you have a architectural/interior/object design where you can walk around or look at within VR.

I was also dreaming to design within a vr environment. Don't know if this is possible either.

Anyone with more insight into this matter?

    thanks a lot!

We do that a lot. Take a look at Unity assetstore ...

When you want to WALK or to INTERACT , your only option is a game engine.

Unity has lots of VR prefabs (ready to use objects, scripts)

    best of luck ..

As far as working inside VR there are videos of yet unreleased tools for Unity and Unreal that show people placing and moving assets inside both game engines. There are also a few modeling apps but they are mostly in development. The only one you can get your hands on right now is Kodon for the Vive, it's a basic sculpting app that is also still in development.

With Lumion You can do stereo panoramas for GearVR, but thats not true vr, just a 360• stereo panorama.

Ubercam will let you walk around your scenes in LightWave if you have an Oculus Rift. We're working on a HTC Vive version at the moment, but no ETA on that or on an updated Oculus Rift version. For now you're limited to using an older version of the Rift engine.

But it *does* work, and lets you look around in Layout, even recording the camera movement as you go!

And yes, you can interact with the scene, too, it's just not as easy as we'd like. You're basically interacting through another viewport.

We're working on addressing that, too, but again no ETA.

    Math is hard

Nice to hear from you Chilton.
Are there any plans to bring the Liberty 3D forums back online?

Oh cool. Looks like our buddies in China and Russia are at it again. I'll check into it.

Unrelated, but kinda, Chinese hackers ruined one of the better forums I used to manage (at ConjureBunny). I think anything that uses a common BBS software eventually gets hit like that. I had to shut it down after Chinese hackers "discovered" it. I was getting over 1,000 new users per day, from China, and all of them were selling sunglasses.

For what is VR I use the "OSVR" :

    With Unity :

And for Stereoscopy in "LightWave" there is the "3D Vision" of "Nvidia" :

    Interesting!

I've got one of those OSVR headsets. Would it be of benefit to you (or anyone) to have an OSVR plugin for LightWave?
