Sharing Media Drive - Worst idea ever or...???

    Greets,

So in this integration, The Media drive on our Tricaster 460 is shared out to about 6 PCs.

Maybe I'm missing something but IMHO, this flies in the face of conscientious workflow design and production system isolation.

    What's best practice?

    Thoughts?

    Jason

I wouldn't do that.. Could cause playback performance issues.

It would be better to have a drive somewhere else that is shared and then add it to your TriCaster.

Yes, the sharing isn't the problem, but having people access the drive while live production is occurring can (and probably will) cause performance issues. It's okay if someone wants to access while you aren't doing live production, but I agree with Philip, use an external drive and have the TriCaster access that share to get to media (or possibly see if there is an NDI workflow to do what you need).

    Excellent!

    I'll build an offline share.

Better yet, I think I'll just use the EditShare..

    Thanks guys.
