I spent part of my morning working on getting the manuals online, shouldn't be long. In the meantime, I'll try to grab a few snaps around the building and post them. Feel free to ask specific questions, and I'll answer as best I can.

Wow. Amazing. hopefully this is in the cards down the road..my most pressing question is can we just purchase the input and output modules? A dedicated sdi to ndi and ndi to sdi is obviously tremendously useful to ndi-ize our studios.

Certainly. (And looked at the other way, don't imagine you really must have either the input or output module for VMC1 to provide a fully competent solution; these are i/o expanders. The base VMC1 system is already extremely capable even any additions.)

Back on topic, clearly either of the i/o modules can be used to multiply the inputs and outputs available in any pipeline using NDI-enabled systems, both our own and those of other developers. VMC1 IN is the first to ship, but the OUT modulke won't be too far behind.

(Both of these have a lot of other features, too, so that they do more than simple i/o.)

    Care to expand on that?

Well ... not exhaustive, just off the top of my head:

    • Both modules have per-channel proc amps
    • And scopes
    • Support a number of interesting local display options in addition to the quadscreen split. (For example, there is a clean fullscreen mode that can serve a channel up as another hardware output.)
    • The input module can play local media files in addition to external sources.
    • The output module has independent per-channel DSKs with positioners and LiveMatte, so you can run a clean feed into one or more channels to 're-brand' it
    • The DSK sources just mentioned can be animated local media, or another NDI source, for example. They also support audio.
    • You can mix and match audio and video sources from a variety of places (so you can send the same video out with different language audio, for example).
    • In module sources and out module background sources have independent, per-channel audio and video delays.
    • The output module has EQ and comp/limiter
    • Both have optional viewport overlays and checkerboard settings,
    • Both support recording to external media (and still grabs)
    • Both support LTC
    • The input module supports Fill and Alpha to produce a 32bit NDI output.
    • Both support 8 channel audio.

There's doubtless more, but you get the idea.

We were kind of hoping you might come to that conclusion.

Here are some completely awful cellphone grabs from around the building. (They suck, so for heaven's sake, no-one tell Marketing I posted them!) Shown are the rear panels of two stacked VMC1's (2RU) units, and two stacked VMC1 IN modules (the 1RU units).

I expect they already are. The first to products are already shipping. I'm not able to handle sales questions, though, sorry.

Sounds good. Thanks, Steve. Could you point us towards the manuals when they're on the site? I couldn't find them on the manuals page.

Roger that. I brought it up in a meeting today and was told it was already underway, so hopefully not very long.

Thanks, Steve. So excited for this! We're at a point with our operation where we're too big for the press box but can't break the bank building any sort of control room around our TC Mini. This just might solve all our problems.
