    Question

    Hey eveyrbody,

Anybody else seen this in 2018 yet? Same scene file, same camera angel, same FiberFx setting, both using the Real Lens camera.

In 2018, the hair looks like straw, and its rendering over the character's head.

My latest attempt at keeping a fur pattern intact with FiberFX. The trick is to keep the cluster radius small, and density obscenely high.
Settings for this were Density of 834%, Cluster count of 3, and radius of 1mm. This blurs the edges of the spots a bit, but maintains the pattern nicely.

Combing was done with my Style Combing tool, version 2.0. No 2 pt. polys were harmed in the making of this image. This is all style mapped.

I'll be moving from weight maps for fur length and density to image maps as soon as I figure out a couple of minor, technical issues (mainly, how to make it work with layers since FFX has no nodal interface and my lack of knowledge about 3DCoat). That would hopefully remove the lack of fur at the shorts.

    Nice.

why wouldn't you just move the shorts etc to another layer temporarily? should fix it, i presume.

The gap at the shorts is more of a problem with how I control the fur length, which is with a weight map. That limits it to where a vertex is. I've gotten around some of my issues getting things back and forth between 3DCoat and Lightwave (OD's 3DCoat applink works well, Yay Oliver!) And I've managed a couple of attempts that have worked... kind of. This would work much better if FFX had a nodal interface, which has been feature requested.
