    Thanks Dan, just installed.
Looks nice, though I am looking for ways to use it in conjunction with 3d scenes, so any hint on anything for that?
mainly looking for a workflow of creating foliage, leafs to use as texture maps on leaf billboards...also possible ways to texture ground foliage or mossy stones, furnia etc.

I think I have found one favourite at least...
the focus, Mystic blur...it can if set properly generate fake godrays very nicely, that would actually be much harder to do in photoshop or even in after effects and lightray.

of course limited to stills...but the results seem to be very nice, have to try it on some more cloud images though.

We have a ton of tutorials on PDHowler channel on Youtube. Finding one about doing billboards will take a little time. I asked phillip if he rememebers the last one. We've done several.
You can create an alpha at the same time as foliage/particles, and you can pick it up as a brush and save it. A brush is basically the clipped out image with its alpha.
There's also Pre-multiply correction in Howler that will get rid of any ghostly alpha edge artifacts. I don't think that's available in Particle 9. But you can just paint on a similar color as the foliage, and you'll never notice any alpha blending artifacts.

This is the first one I found

BTW, a brush can be saved as a regular graphics format, like bmp, jpg, tga, etc.
a media contains all the brushes settings and it's a proprietary format.

That's what the Howler version is all about, animations and video.

Thanks for the info, one thing I wonder though..since I mentioned the mystic blur filter, would it b possible to animate that?(direction etc) directly on image sequences or other imported anim formats?

In Howler you can animate it through the timeline. You can keyframe x,y,factor and quality. No animation in Particle 9.

Hmmm ... what am I doing wrong? It's 56% off, but not free. Did I miss the window?

Most likely. I have the Project Dogwaffle Howler program anyhow. It's much more versatile! It can usually be found for an inexpensive price and on sale too.

It was free for a day, and I think it's been going up since then. The full price is $7.99 on Particle 9.
