    animation synchronization

What are the best resources in LW for syncing to to audio, lip syncing ect? (plug-ins, tutorials, built in functionality)

Is this the best place to post a question like this? I’m normally on the LScript group.

Papagayo is pretty good for this, I wrote an lscript to import the data files from this into LW.

    There's
    www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/
    Magpie Pro

A lot of LWers like this and swear by it:

If you do a search for Lip Sync software, you should get quite a few hits.

For lip sync it's just a matter of scrubbing the audio and animating to the proper mouth shapes. I used to use the program magpie pro to generate morph animation from audio.

You can attach an audio file to a channel so the audio can drive the channel. So for example you could have the scale of an object react to the audio.

Do you have a specific audio sync scenario?

2D animation / Manga / Stop Motion Style
    Papagayo - Free
    CrazyTalk - $100
    Magpie Pro - $250

not sure how the 3 above compare, but you can also use TAFA for 2D animation,
    more advanced, more control

    ---------------

    TAFA
for Pixar alike animations and realism i'd use TAFA
TAFA can also be very good using only a few morphs, this animation is using only 3 morphs >

again, this above is only using 3 morphs, with more morphs & tweaking you get better realism

    ---------------

    3rdPowers Cage Deformer
for small fixes / mouth tweaks you can also use 3rdPowers Cage Deformer >

I really like TAFA. It's easy to use and you can get really good results fast. Much easier than Papagayo, which I tried and just didn't get good results with (that was several years ago - not sure what it is like today though)

I think with Tafa, you can control the mix of morphs much more than with Pap, so it's going to be better. Does it do a dictionary auto match? Or does it all have to be done by hand?
