Youtube itself shared and commented on the video. LWgroup should really hire/work with him more.

You know what's funny about that (or perhaps funny isn't the right word), is when I uploaded it the ads weren't working, so I've been trying in vain all week to draw YouTube's attention to the fact before it goes viral. Then, it went viral. Next thing I know, YouTube are featuring it on their own Google+ page - and the ads are still not working!

So, I did the only remaining thing that was left to do - I added a plea to fix it in the comments section of their post, and several hours later somebody must have flipped a switch, because the ads came on. Not before the initial swell of traffic had subsided and the bulk of the revenue was lost though of course.

    [Insert moral of story here].

some of the HuffPo commenters are all "it's a scan", but I suspect, having seen Chris' work, that it is not. Anybody know?

(Also, since commenters generally know sh!te, I'm even more doubting their 'observations'.)

If Chris did "The Passenger" I have no doubt that he could achieve such stunning results 'by hand', whether he did or not.

(As usual, there's some really ignorant, lay-person stuff in that comment stack....)

To the inevitable know-it-alls who try to tear something down: Just because you are incapable of doing it, doesn't mean it can't be done, jerkwad.

Same thing happened a couple of years ago when our Police Box Refrigerator hit the 'Net and went viral.

First thing out of their mouths was: "It's Photoshopped."

No, the FIRST thing was that half-eaten Cheetoh®.

Thanks! It has a light activated sound module upon which we change out audio clips that trigger when the doors open. I never know from one morning to the next what it will say. We have the most entertaining fridge on the planet, ones with TVs in the ice maker notwithstanding. The Mozilla crew got one of our kits for their office fridge and we could see Doctor Who episodes playing on the ice maker in the thoroughly impressive dimensioned shots that they sent.

Unless he has a secret multi-million dollar illumination and movement scanner, I think we know the answer . It's not possible to scan the micro hairs. It's not possible to scan the lashes. It's not possible to scan the clean, low-poly cage. It's not possible to scan the sss effect. It's not possible to scan the bone-driven animated movements or skin displacements. So, really, nothing that actually matters on the video (nothing that makes it news-worthy and/or viral-worthy) could reasonably be scanned. If the skin texture was not scanned, I'd have to ask, "why not?" because I really see no possible reason for trying to create a human head texture in any other way.
