Looking to get this lwo file as a 3ds or dxf or similar

Hi, hopefully someone can assist me,

I need to get the attached file in a format that i can import into max.
I know, I know this may sound a bit cheeky but this here seems to be my last chance. I have tried the max lwo importer plugin- that crashes Max, tried bringing it into Poser - that gives me a failure message, So I would really appreciate it if I could get some help with this,

    Thanks

    Tom

I take it this object is from a legit source?

It was a sub-d object so I had to freeze it, couldn't save it as .3DS unless I tripled it, so I saved it as .DXF

    See attached.

Using the lightwave importer needs a couple of things to be checked in lightwave before you can load it into max

you need the latest importer as well... www.maxplugins.de

first, all of your model need to be on layer one

then check poly stats and delete any 1 or 2 point polys as this is not supported by max and will give an error or crash max...it's a max short comming not lw.

you don't need to freeze your mesh as you can use meshsmooth to replace the sub d in lightwave.

Thanks Matt, I imported it in but it comes in all messed up,

Cresshead> you have lost me as I do not know Lightwave nor have I access to it at the moment> Is deleting the 1-2 points a major thing in LW,
Anyone willing to help out, now I am being cheeky.

    Thanks guys,

Hmmm, LWs DXF support has always been ropey in my experience!

Looks like the glass from the JD bottle tute, first tute I ever done in LW - took me two weeks to model it !!

    emailed the file to you

btw, you probably could have converted this to 3ds with the 30 day trial version of Deep Exploration yourself

can't MAX take in the (.OBJ) format ??? That format is great for keeping quads in contact and I'm not sure about this but takes UV Maps across aswell...

that lw file load straight inot cinema6CE [free on 3d worldmag]

i deleted the 1 and 2 point polys in lw than re saved also copied all layers to layer 1...came into max 4 without a hitch although the file size is now 10.mb!....and zips up to 2.2mb...

it's such a simple model why not make it!
rather than have the hi poly mess that max makes of it...

here's the lwo file without the 1 and 2 point polys

BTW max can have [you get 'em from maxplugins.de for free]
obj, lwo [lw5.6], lwo [lightwave 6 object format], 3ds, dxf,dwg and a host if import formats...the hardest thing for max is to open a max file on a previous version!...say a max 4 scene in max 3.
    ..go figure on that one!
