    Just Imperfect Vertical Lines

I'm trying to just make a nodal texture with only vertical lines. They can have varying widths and distances from each other. I can get very clean lines using the grid node with a high Y scale, but I think I want them to be less parallel and have a little variation to them. Any ideas on how to do this?

Grid node with high Y scale (not exactly what I want, but I thought I'd show it anyway)

try plugging a procedural node into the U tiles and mortar width. that should give you some nice variation.

Like sandman says, or if you want straight line you could try this:

"Less parallel" lines will eventually intersect. Does the op mean "wobbley"? Or "only mostly straight, but never intersecting"?

Jeric...yeah meant wobbly... Which I can get by adjusting the scale on one dimension.
