Amsterdam-based Cortical Studios wins gold medal at the New York Festivals!

Amsterdam-based Cortical Studios wins gold medal at the New York Festivals, the equivalent to the Oscars for commissioned films, with its scientific information film on probiotics. The award was presented in Las Vegas on 8 April at the 57th edition of the prestigious New York Festivals. In the International Television & Film Competition, the film won the gold medal in the category Instruction & Education.
The film was commissioned by life-science company Kemin and explains how probiotics added to poultry feed contribute to a healthy gut flora, thereby providing a healthy alternative to antibiotics.
Besides the gold medal, the film also won a bronze medal in the category Animation, and in 2013 it was a finalist in the Global Awards, with their special focus on science and health care.
According to Martijn Rijnberg, director of Cortical Studios, it is ‘an enormous honour that a relatively small company competing at world level with players such as HBO, Disney and National Geographic should not only reach the final, but also win a gold and a bronze medal. Winning gold in a festival with entries from more than 50 countries is a real encouragement to us in our scientific and creative work.’
