    wwuuhhuuuuu incredible...

please, if you have time, could you make some tests with some heightmaps for mountains, if you need heightmaps, i will send you.

    thanks for your great work

Yes, please, send one to me and I will check how it works. This displacement system is really nice because it doesn't eat GPU ram while rendering, but I am not sure if it works well for big displacements, like mountains.

ok, here it is, its only a 4096pixel heightmap, maybe somebody has a 8K map for testing

It works without problems, all in realtime, with only one quad polygon

No problem at all, but the displacement map for the grass should have more resolution.

This is getting to be really interesting. Now, if there only would be a launch sale, I may be able to swing it. Having just bought Thea Render, it'll be a hard sell to the CFO.

Nice! I guess I need to get serious about buying a new system so I can be ready when this is released. Keep up the great work, Juanjo.

Hey, nice to see some Thea Render users on LightWave's forums !
This render engine is really great, giving even more realistic results as Octane, and its relight function !!

Ah, if there was another JuanJo doing the same great job he's doing with Octane and Arnold, but for Thea i would be in heaven !

And to come back to the topic this is great news JuanJo, Octane for LightWave is already really great and it can only become even better with this v2 release, looking forward to what you'll come up with in the next few weeks.

    Cheers,
    Laurent aka Tartiflette.

Yep. Looking to expand to an unbiased renderer, in part to get real-world lights and good caustics, and to move into a GPU capability, I tested both Octane and Thea and went with the latter, primarily due to price. Lack of a Thea plugin for LightWave and MODO (there is an old one for MODO but it has issues) makes is less desirable, however, but there's only so much cash to go around.

New feature: The Random Color Texture node. This node creates some random float values between 0 and 1, that are constant, but different for instances of the same mesh, so you can use it to apply random colors, textures or materials to the instances.
