I'm using a new version of Newton Dynamics which is much more stable than any previous version that was in AP. The current beta of AP 2018 is very solid in my daily testing. The really good news is the LW 2018 changed the Instancing API so that instances are no longer "parented" to the source object. This is a big win for AP, since it doesn't have to transform each instance into "parent" space on each tick.
Any word on how the new Newton impacts the future of Mac LW AP for LW2018? I too would really like to have AP working in LW2018. The huge gaps of time between status updates aren't exactly reassuring, either.

+1 - There might be a LW 2019 before this comes out for 2018 if nothing happens soon. I like the way Hurley thinks and tries to make things carefully with the new UP-engine and instacing API in LW 2018, but a smarter thing would have been to just make the previous version work in LW 2018 for now, and then work with the new version in the background.

While waiting, I noticed that 3rd powers weight paint tool works quite good for painting clones on objects as well.

I'd really appreciate an update on the general compatibility situation for all Hurley plugins on Mac and Win for LW2019 -- as in, which work on Mac in LW2018? LW2019? which work on Win in LW2018? LW2019?

I know AP has had specific issues with LW2018, did LW2019 fix the LW bug responsible? Will there be AP for LW2019? What about AP for Mac LW2019?

I almost feel like Mac LW2015 is the "last third-party-plugin-compatible version" due to HUGE percentage of third-party plugins incompatible with Mac LW versions after LW2015.

i used to have Macs, but there is no denying PC is the way to go for 3D and other arenas.

I just donīt get it..why doesnīt people do research about Macs and the fact that so many plugin developers will not be able to develop plugins for Mac..for a long time or not at all, and also
may loose out on some stuff in the original software as well.
One may think they should do that..and decide to get both PC and Macs to cover the areas they are working in.

I decided many many years ago to not get a Mac, due to the lack of support in the 3D world.

Okay, that's getting a bit nasty. How is this conceivably a "take the money and run" scenario?

Steve released and supported most of his LW plugin products for multiple versions across quite a few years. They don't work in LW201LW2019, but the existing releases aren't claiming to work in those versions either. They do work fine in LW2015, as claimed. There was no explicit commitments made that prior purchasers would somehow ALSO receive LW201LW2019-compatible plugins. Anyone purchasing expecting to receive plugins compatible with LW201LW2019 has irrational expectation given the product claims present.

Even if they're "abandonware" now, that in and of itself still wouldn't be a "take the money and run" scenario.

itīs been a bit over a year now when he reported that he had some problems porting AP to L2018 due to the rewrite of some of the code.

Apparently he stumbled over a bug and Oliver Hotz confirmed that it was a known issue, Steve replied: --> Thanks for letting me know, Oliver. I hope it's fixed soon ... it's kinda of a showstopper for AP in LW2018

So I really hope the developers and Hurley are somehow working together on it as AP would be a real asset to have in current LW incarnations...
It would be great to hear/read at least something from Steve Hurley, though... :-\

Maybe someone from the dev team or Chuck maybe or Steve who happens to read this, can provide some bit of info? In the case of the dpont-stuff back then after (seemingly thousands of posts in the forums...) there was at some point at least the info that they are talking...

I want to apologize for my ealier post. It's just that I do have licenses for his products, and there has been no activity for quite a while. So hopefully my apology will be accepted. I truly hope that a resolution is coming.
