    Cool Interoperability: Lightwave and Sketchup

    Hi guys!

I bought lightwave a couple weeks ago and now Iím testing importing scenes from sketchup for rendering in lightwave. I tried some scenes modified from 3D Warehouse just for fun

My challenges are joining a lot of different objects, groups and also materials together (sketchup doesnít help) and I saw some bad surface normals. OBJexporter v3 helps for the materials and exporting only one object (but itís slow ruby script). Also the script camera to lws helps for the views.

Do you know a tool to recalculate the normals in LW? Also, merge trianges tool doesnít preserve UVís.

    Thanks!

Under the detail tab, Unify normals, will try to get flipped polygons to behave. Try this for making triangles into quads. https://www.lightwave3d.com/assets/p...mergetrigonsx/

    Thanks Danner.
Also Surface Renamer and change_surface2 are very helpfull when you +200 surfaces of the same material.
