Something that I didn't expect would work but does perfectly in maya is that if I Load and .abc file into maya and apply mesh smooth to it I can subdivide the mesh without ruining the point cache at all. I can then export that abc file again into CS with no problems. So if you need more detail for your sculpt that is a great way to do it!

I hope when 11.6 gets allembic support that this would be possible there as well, appears to be a powerful feature.
