    New version of live text

Is there any thought to a new LiveText. One that is totally revamped, works with Mac or Windows 8, but, most importantly—works as advertised.

If this were any other piece of software with this many problems, there would be a class action lawsuit against the creator.

You know Ned, while not from NewTek there are more and more alternatives every day. We still use LiveText for simple stuff but use more advanced solutions for most events now.

    Hi Ned,

LiveText works fine on Windows 8. Have you contacted support or filed bug reports for any specific issues?

I do know that Jef, but at the time of my purchase there were none. I didn't investigate at the time because I felt that LiveText would be adequate. I hate to walk away from an investment of a grand. I am looking at Compix. Have you any experience with this software? I am looking at Chyron but that comes with a steep price tag. LiveText is suited for the bulk of my graphics needs—if it worked as advertised all the time.

I contacted Tech Support many times about issues with LiveText. I've received many ideas and help in these discussions forums but many issues with LiveText remain unsolved and an irritant.

    Thanks for your interest...

CW is actually ready for live production. But we still want to add a few exciting features and have a few minor technical issues to solve.

We hope to enter open beta phase version in a month and release commercially during the IBC2013 show in Amsterdam.

I'm curious about other solutions as well. Also, does anyone know the cost of ChyronIP?

Our Data Source system is designed to support this kind of operation and we plan to eventually add support for SQL databases. If you haven't seen it already, please have a look at our videos here to see how CW Data Sources work with Twitter:

I had seen this videos already but there was no SQL Database connection shown so thats why i was asking.
At the moment we use livetext with the available database connection system for getting scores from the juges that are processed live in a SQL database on a linux system.
On livetext we are missing animations and sound, thats why we watch out for other systems rigth now, but without SQL database connections this would be useless for us
Also a template based system to feed in data from a serial com port (legacy or via USB) would be great, a couple of scoreboards would be able to be connected by simply defining data input templates.
If you need some help defining, implementing and testing a sql interface, please let me know, we might be able to help. (but should not be a big deal anyway as a management structure for such data are already there as shown in the videos)

    best regards,
