    Old, first comp attempt revisited...

    This was my first attempt at integrating 3D assets in a photo. Back in the day it was MUCH more difficult to make something even remotely convincing.

    I've redone it with the LOVELY Shadow Catcher node, DOF, and mildly updated models.

    The first image is the original, the second the redone version.

    I could be wrong, but I thought the shadow would be all cut/deformed and softened.

    No, just because the clouds are soft doesn't mean the shadows cast across them should be, but you are right about them being deformed, although isn't this the case in the example. That is a vastly superior composite to the original.
