    Cloning problem

I'm cloning a single poly in layout to use as light sources in Maxwell, but every time they jump back to the starting position, placing all clones on top of the original. I'm obviously missing something simple here - I've done this hundreds of times without problems... Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You need to turn Auto Key on. I fogbugz'd this a while back as I tend to work with Auto Key off but got the following response:
"It needs the keyframe to position - I'll see if anything can be adjusted for this -- but it's usual when working with instances to have autokey on."

Would be good to fogbugz it - the more people moan about it the more likely they'll find a way to change it. In theory. ;-)

Are you keyframing the new positions?
Maybe you had Auto-Key on before and somehow it got flipped off, requiring manual confirmation.

(Edit: Ha! souzou beat me by 2 minutes. )

Auto-key it was! Is it ok if I blame the cat for turning it off in mid-project?

Thank you both for the quick response!
