    32gb Quad channel ram
    64gb SSD pagefile
    680 4gb card

Why does this scene requires too heavy processing? 2 hours is too much for this!
Curious to see how much time to render this throught V ray or Octane render.

This is a benchmark for modern machines, not a production shot.

Dave Jerrard concocted this scene to deliberately bench a modern machine. Earlier in this thread he described how he did it:

    From http://forums.newtek.com/showthread....=1#post1298526

See that swirly marble to the left? He's the bastard. He was designed to push the machine. Each one of those glass swirls in it has a different refractive index. Then there's the reflections of the marbles in the floor. This was not desighned to be a fast render. On the original scenes I did, this frame took over 11 hours on my quad core. This version is made to be LW 11 native - no third party plugins.
If you have the means to port this scene to VRay or Octane, I would love to see the results!

I'm sure my laptop should be quicker than nearly 5hrs... especially compared to others benchmarks. Hmmmmm... not happy about that.

Would love to see this scene converted to Arnold to see how that gets on!

On my machine - custom built Hex-core with HT i7 3930 at 4.5GHz, 32GB RAM I got the following time while also surfing the next, sending emails, un-rarring files, and copying files off Blu-ray backup to HDD:

    1 hour 6 mins, 3 seconds
