Speed Modeling Challenge #203 - High Heels

Speed Modeling Challenge #203 - High Heels

    *************************************************

    Rules:

    1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modeling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
    2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger.
    3. LightWave must be used for modeling. 3rd party Plug-ins are allowed.
    4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
    5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
    6. The winner is judged by the challenge starter and the prize is to set up the challenge after next week's.
    *************************************************

    This week's topic: High Heels.

Yeah, you read that right... High heels baby!!

    Time limit: 60 minutes.

    Deadline: Wednesday, January, 23th, 2013, 22:00 G.M.T

Have fun (but not too much fun ) and good luck!

So I told myself I would do more speed models, cause I needed the practice if I was going to get better at modeling. I have slowly been teaching myself with tutorials and books. I have always had a hard time grasping the concept and procedures when working with subpatched. I went WAY over the 60 minutes, took me like half a day to get the results I wanted. I am pretty pleased with my flashy red heels.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Looks good Wittywop, all I can suggest is keep on doing what your doing. You'll get faster. Would like to see some wires.

    Here's mine.

Erm.... I don't actually own these.

    Here's another one.

Needs a bit more tweaking, but you get the idea.

    Nice! Very Nice!!

XswampyX - thanks for sharing....so that's how you do it.

Wittywop - lookin' good. While I'll never stop watching tutorials, it wasn't until I stepped away from that safety net that I really started improving. So kudos in taking that step.
It might sounds a little crazy (and a little exhausting) but after you spend half a day on a model, try doing it (or apart of it) again right away while what you've learned is fresh in your head. I bet you do it better and much faster. Render looks good, but, If you want more to the point comments, post those wires!

90 minute model here. Sorry, got caught up in straps and such.
    Wires later.....

Wow. Nice job everyone. I just wanted to post a note of thanks to XswampyX for the video. Sometimes its had to think how to create things in the most efficient manner and your videos (throughout) the forum really help. I think it was JoePoe that shared his setup of bricks in another thread using displacement and that was helpful too. So thanks to both of you for sharing your knowledge time and time again. It's greatly appreciated.

Jeez-I'm so out of practice at this! I gave it my best shot and ended up with something that would suit a female Hobbit.
    Nice work guys!

Iain - good to see ya. A female Hobbit with high heels...... I think you're on to something!

Bax - you're welcome. I'm just glad, from time to time, I can find something that I'm actually able to help with.

Here are my wires.... (like I said, over time.... but still posting)

    Al-righty then, ....

Wittywop: again.... Lookin' good. Keep up the good work. Good detail in the heel. Still wish you posted wires.
XswampyX: A lot of shape with minimal geometry.... as usual! Re: "I don't actual own these".... If I'd only known 'round Christmas time... oh well.
Iain: welcome back! Zipper, buckles, and straps......Classy yes.... wires no.
akaracquel: A lot of boot with just a few polys. I like the proportion of it too.

    Winner:
akaracquel.......I like the Hot Sauce laces. (and, I know it wasn't part of the model, but chocolate frogs always make everything better )
