Awesome wires. I thought that handle was modeled (as opposed to a normal map or displacement).

You just posted so I hope you're still floating around.

    Re: green line.
My fluid is not subD and it does have a top to it.
But the outer glass is SubD. (inner was just frozen).

So, I'll freeze the outer.....see what that does?

As I was typing, though, I did a test section render with Volumetric Lighting checked. Fixed the line, but now everything is a little (more) green. Killed the render time though.

Hmmmm. So I froze the outer glass (the "container")..... perfect match to inside liquid. Both non SubD.
    Still getting that line.
What I find interesting is that it's perfectly straight and parallel to the screen edge.
If it were do to a light bending irregularity coming from a round object..........

Okay, so figured it out, ....sort of. Not sure if it's a work around or an actual fix.
The light all by itself was still causing that line to show. Turned off "glow behind objects". (and tweaked a couple other settings, but that was the big difference.)
Maybe, I should be using a spherical light instead of point. Next time.

    For right now.....

    Hello everyone...

Well, I'll be judging everyones a little later on, but before I do, I thought I'd best do my own blaster. I'd have done it sooner, but it has been bedlam on my end for the last week.

I drew some influence from Swampy with regard the glass chamber... as it looked so cool, I wanted to try it out too! So this is partly stolen... I took the whole 90 minutes, and probably an hourish on top to texture and what not. Hope you like

    Kris

Judging will begin in about 4 hours, so any last minute entries, get em in! Peace.

Well, after much deliberation and thought I have declared myself the winner. Well done everyone else, but ya know... haha, just kidding of course!

Firstly, great great entries by everyone. I wasn't sure if the old blaster would rouse much interest, but it sparked some imaginations! So thank you everyone who took part... all very good efforts.

I have to say that Kuzey, that is a fearsome looking sidearm! Sorry it didn't quite get in the 90 minutes criteria, but thankyou for sharing at the last minute!

Joe Poe, you clearly put some time into the Men in Black gun, excellent model, and it turned out fantastic in the final render. Some great texturing work... but sadly, you'll have to settle for silver this week, as I think...

Swampy, who kicked this challenge off to a great start with a fantastic and very original take on the theme. Part steampunk, part made from plumbers spares (a steampunk mario gun?) Also, bonus points for a totally original design!

A great model, very inspiring render and I'm sure we'd all agree, a deserving winner I think. Well done Swampy!!!

Commiserations to everyone else who entered, maybe next time!

    Kris
