Speed Modeling Challenge #192 - Electric land speed car.

Speed Modeling Challenge #192 - Electric land speed car.
    *************************************************

    Rules:

    1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modeling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
    2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger.
    3. LightWave must be used for modeling. 3rd party Plug-ins are allowed.
    4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
    5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
    6. The winner is judged by the challenge starter and the prize is to set up the challenge after next week's.
    *************************************************

This week's topic: Electric land speed car. Well it's a speed challenge, so what could be better then a speedy car? Must be electric (so no need for the troublesome jet engine!) & very aerodynamic. Your own design or a real one. It's up to you.

    Time limit: 90 minutes

    Deadline: Wednesday, October, 17th, 2012, 22:00 G.M.T

I think maybe this could be extended to the 24th as it's so late?

    Cheers!

Nice work Mcswampy, you certainly know how to sex up a hemisphere.

    My Entry:

Concept for a Fusion Powered Electic Speedster. No fancy modeling here, Disc Primitives, Connect, and Multi-multi-multishift.
Drive motors are in each wheel; Powerplant is the glowy thing in back. Modeled in 90 minutes.

Well...kinda always liked Donald Campbell, so coloured it up in Bluebird Blue quickly.
Model took me 70 minutes. Started with the wheels, disk, extrude, brakes, spline, extrude. Body half sphere and messed about with the shape. I was on LW 6.6 for this cos im in hospital, but managed to get back home for a couple of hours to surface and render which was about half an hours work, so i am not really happy with the surfacing, as there are some errors, but i just dont have time at the moment:/

Nice entries by all yet again.

    Greetings,
First speed modeling challenge entry and first post to Newtek boards. Some crazy models here. Hope I'm posting this correctly. Modeling time about 60 min. About 5 min. for texture. All primitives.Click image for larger version.

I realize I'm late... my sub:

Really more of a modeling exercise and it was fun. Took about 70 min. to get this far... knowing I'll never get that F-1 steering wheel done (not to mention the wheel wells) in the next 20 minutes, I figured I'd just snap the wires and post. Yes, the form isn't all that great but this was a great topic and it was enjoyable.

Inspiration came from an old National Geographic magazine piece I saw when I was a kid in the '80s about several awesome looking solar race cars, and a race through Australia (?... was it? Can't recall). There was a car that had solar panels around the car, hence the circular "wing" where the imaginary solar panels go.

One of these days I'll actually get around to applying some texture.
