Speed Modeling Challenge #182 - Ashtray

Speed Modeling Challenge #182 - Ashtray
    *************************************************

    Rules:

    1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
    2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger.
    3. LightWave must be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug-ins are allowed.
    4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
    5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
    6. The winner is judged by the challenge starter and the prize is to set up the challenge after next week's .
    *************************************************

    This week's topic is: Ashtray
Since I stopped smoking today, I find it only fitting that the subject of this speed-challenge would be "ashtray". Ashtray's are a nice subject in that way that you have a lot of different ones in all shapes and sizes, and all levels of complexity, so everyone should be able to find something to model that's going to challenge their modelling skills. And better yet original ideas/designs are more than welcome

    Time limit: 60 minutes
    Deadline: Wed. 1st of August 2012. 22:00 G.M.T.

    Here you go. Looks disgusting!

About 10mins for the ash tray, same for the ciggy. Arrangement courtesy of bullet.

Anybody know how to get a semi-realistic ash in there?

    And the wires.

As much as I find the subject distasteful...
    800 x 600 Normal

    800 x 600 Wires

(Thanks to whoever pointed me at the Polygon Coloring Plugin...)

    Ooops...

(A similar fate to the ashtrays in our house when my late father had his heart attacks, except those had either a .308 or .450 hole put in them @ 10M or so...)
(Same model, run through fracture, and dropped from 10m.)

~50 minutes to model (twice) and run through fracture (once)

    Speaking of Ash"trays"

Here's mine. Took a full hour to manipulate; nothin' fancy for texturing.

Nice modeling everyone. Beautiful render XswampyX. Congratulations Artglobin, on stopping smoking. To help you with your goal, I modeled a "Lungs and Trachea" ashtray complete with hemorrhage. 45min.

    Sorry , still learning...

Oh well, none of the image buttons (attachments or insert image) work for me. They won't open.

I couldn't find a lot of variation online but I thought this rounded triangle might prove tricky.
It doesn't really look it though so I had to find another way to make it probably the best ashtray in the world.............

@jeric_synergy: ..nothing clever on my part, I just pressed F8 and thought it looked cool ..but it took me forever to find something i actually liked in the presets that came with the IWF2 plugin It was a nodal preset called 'wall'. I have no idea if native LW tools can do the same / similar kind of thing.
