Post Fast & TERSE: free apps for LW users

The point of this thread is to provide a centralized, findable index of free- and share-ware resources for the Lightwave animator. I was reading THIS THREAD and there were so many great free apps that I was amazed, but at the same time bummed I'd never heard of a lot of them, and tired that I had to wade thru a ton of nattering to find out about them.

So, when you find a free or donation app (and please DO make a donation if you can or if you use something commercially), please enter a SHORT and to the point name and description of the app. Make it real "keywordy" so Searches find it reliably. --if you want to discuss the program in more depth, please start your own thread. Include a link.

If you use just a PART of a program, please list that too. For instance, Blender (apparently) has solid retopology tools, and it also has a sculpting capability. If you use Blender for sculpting, feel free to enter it under sculpting. Or if you use it just to migrate certain geometry formats, put that in.

Please use the below as a template for your entries.
    ++++
    FREE APPS FOR LIGHTWAVE USERS:

    BLENDER - retopology
    IVY GENERATOR - modeling, plants,
MAKE HUMAN - modeling, humans, human figures
    ART RAGE2 - drawing, painting
    BLENDER - sculpting, modeling
PENCIL - 2d animation, cel animation, traditional animation, drawing, painting
CanTree - 2d tree image (only) generator, trees, plants
Tree[d] - tree, tree generator, modeling, plants
They only call it 'class warfare' when we fight back.

ArtRage isn't free. Pretty cheap, but not free.

    MyPaint however, is free.

    As is Alchemy.

I think the verymost basic version of ArtRage is free, but they certainly don't make it easy to tell, and believe me, I looked. I could certainly be wrong. In which case the link to MyPaint is even more appreciated.

    BSurfaces - modeling and retopologizing

VirtualDub - video capture, video processing, light editing, video format conversion
