Looks good sublimationman.
You know you get the full 60 mins for your modelling (if you need it). Setting up the render/textures can take as long as you like. No longer than a week though or you'll miss the deadline.![]()

Modeling 55min, texturing/lightning 35min.
I had couple different approach to this challenge, and some of them was wrong.
I end up with render below. Not so complex, but then again nobody's paying me.
Cheers!
All models and renders very sharp.

Heh, pretty clever to hide the hardest part
Here's my try. (modeled after this)
Took the full 60 minutes to model. Texturing and setting up the scene quite a bit longer.
Enjoy.
Amazingly cool retro thread. Must participate.
Hiya guys! Great entries!
Had some spare time.
45 mins of modeling
And the wire. Now it was a nice model, till I found a few non-planer polygons. Couldn't be bothered with it, so just tripled them (on the blade).

I must say, these are all looking great!
Amazing Iain! - Well worth the effort. That's some poly count on the handle.![]()
Cheers-yeah the poly count is pretty high
Lots of great attempts at this very tricky topic![]()

Here we go..... good luck!
Creativetone :- Pretty wires, love the string and a great render..... what a way to kick it all off.
Sublimationman aka "big dog" - Great job for only 1 hours work, most impressed. Loved the new wires render.
MDSPECIFIC - Great wires and pin sharp detailing on all the cut outs in the blade, I'd pay you if you came at me with that knife!
Rabbitpenny - Love the handle on this one, it's the sort of thing I was trying to do but ran out of time. The render also has a feeling of real weight to the knife, solid!
Waves of light - The quickest model of them all. Love the suede sheath, very ingenious!
Traveler - Ouch, that's one nasty looking knife (in a good way!). The blade looks ultra sharp in the render, once again great detailing.
Chco2 - Love the render on this one. The texture on the blade makes it look well used, but still genuinely dangerous. A bit of tripling on the blade, but hey fantastic for 45mins. My favourite render.
Iain - Pretty impressive wires, there's so much detail it's hard to make out the gaps! Cool render with the gun metal finish. I would love to see just a plain clay render of this one. Hell of any of them!
Just have to say what a great bunch of entries this week. As they are all of the same thing and the basic modelling steps are pretty much universal, this has been a right pain in the ar$e to judge! I really could just pick any of them.
As I can't then the one I pick this week is Iain for the extremely detailed almost sub-atomically modelled knife. It was the model I had in my head when I set the challenge.
Well done everyone else. I think we should open a knife shop!
This one's for PhotoTekArtWork.
Not a speed model.... far from it!
